Graphnet successfully loads over 20 billion records as it completes switch to EXA for providing GP data to care systems.

Graphnet Health, one of the country’s best known providers of population health tools, shared care records, and remote monitoring solutions, has announced the completion of its move to EMIS X-Analytics' (EXA) for providing GP data to integrated care systems and care communities. This follows the retirement of the EMIS Patient Data Extract Service Replacement (PDES) solution, which is how Graphnet’s shared care record and population health solutions previously received GP data.
It has been a significant project that involved loading over 20 billion records and managing 22TB of storage across 10 databases. The feed will receive data from more than 2700 GP practices. Graphnet has also introduced Azure HyperScale technology allowing customer databases to scale up to 100TB.
Graphnet is one of the first to receive the GP data feed, and there are numerous benefits to its shared care record and population health customers, such as Greater Manchester, St Helens, Kent, and Berkshire. This includes increased reliability and security, due to the fact that EXA is built on cloud architecture. The amount of data has increased, and is SNOMED coded, which replaces out-dated coding systems. This gives Graphnet greater flexibility in the future to provide an enhanced user experience to care teams using CareCentric products. The data is also better structured, which means that data feeds can be extended.
“We are proud to be one of the first to receive the GP data feed, using EXA, and we are already seeing improvements in the way that this data is being coded and presented,” says Graphnet CEO, Ian Denley. “It is enabling more efficient surfacing of richer and broader GP datasets within CareCentric and will also improve efficiency of replication of GP data to our Population Health solution, providing faster access to users for analytics, insights, and cohort management. Our goal is always to provide the best possible service, data, and analytics to our customers, so I’m delighted that we could work so quickly and efficiently to complete this very important project.”
The GP data feed includes medications, problems, allergies, family history, vital signs, immunisations, referrals, social history, results, allergies, and alerts. It is collated by Graphnet’s CareCentric shared care record software. CareCentric works by connecting multiple core systems from diverse vendors and sharing information between them. It delivers a detailed, local shared patient record that pulls together health and social care information - providing a unified view of an individual’s whole needs. Available to authorised professionals where they need it, at the point of care, it is used to improve care provision and decision-making.
